Introduction:

Me at a local pinball evening
I always dreamt of someday owning my very own Arcade machine or even a Pinball. So after I bought my house I made those dreams a reality starting with a arcade cabinet later followed by a slot machine, an other arcade, some other machines that are now sold or in storage and lastly my very own pinball. These machines have taught me a lot as they keep breaking and needing upkeep and repairs. At this moment of time I have downscaled this hobby and only have one Arcade machine in active use.

Vertical Arcade Cabinet(s):
Vertical arcade cabinet (The Invasion):

Vertical arcade cabinet

Information:
This the first machine I ever got, it came with the game Exerizer, but originally it started out as a vertical space invaders clone called "The Invasion". The cabinet was already converted (and in a pretty bad state) when I got it.

Originally it still had a CRT monitor, but that one sadly died at some point so I replaced it with a LCD monitor. I gifted the dead monitor to someone who might be able to and hopefully has breathed new life into it. I also replaced the power supply and the control panel as the original had clearly gone through hell.

At the moment is has a switching 6 PCB multiboard inside that can hold multiple game PCB's which you can switch between via a remote control. It also holds a video signal converter board that converts the original signal for the CRT to a standard VGA connector. The 60 in one board has a separate VGA output so I build in a switcher to switch between the two different VGA signals.

The games that are currently loaded:
  1. icade 60 in 1 multicart
  2. Empty
  3. Empty
  4. Twin eagle revenge joe's brother
  5. Strikers 1945
  6. Exerizer
Planned work:
What I still have planned for this one:
  • Replace bezel
  • Replace edges
  • Put a piece of plexiglas over the control panel
  • Maybe repaint sides
  • Fill multiboard with 2 additional game boards

It stoped working at some point, but this was fixed after a good clean in the dishwasher and a drying session in the oven afterwards.

Information:
Bought it via e-bay, and it had slightly scrambled visuals when I received it. I tried to give it a good cleaning but this only made it worse completely scrabling the screen making it unplayable. After chekking the board I found a small capacitor with a broken connection lead. Sadly the desoldering process did not go well as the old solder refused to melt causing me to probably burning and ruining some of the connections on the board.

Horizontal arcade cabinet (Defence):

Horizontal arcade cabinet

Information:
Got this one from marktplaats.nl. It was already converted and in a pretty bad state when I got it. It came with a boxing game called Final Blow, I sold this game for a decent price almost making back the entire investment of the cabinet.

I already did some work on it like replacing the buttons with ones that light up (also going from 3 to 2 buttons). The original idea was to convert the cabinet to a custom multi Bubble Bobble cabinet (BB, BB 2, BB 3, Puzzle Bobble). This cabinet is however pretty bulky and in a not so great shape. So I am now thinking of gutting it and selling the empty cabinet for the use in someones MAME project, I will then take the insides and combine it into the other vertical cabinet that I have.
Planned work:
Gutting and selling

Horizontal arcade cabinet (Multi Games):

Information:
Got this one from a friend. I was stalling it in my house as it would be his MAME project someday, but he did not had the room to store it at the time. After a couple of years however (after he moved to a new place with more room) it was decided that I could keep it as my own.

It is not working at the moment and I am planning on taking the good working stuff from the my other horizontal cabinet and building it into this one as this one is better looking.
Planned work:
Filling it with the guts of my other cabinet and making a multi Bubble Bobble cabinet.

Information:
The MVS (Multi Video System), as the Neo Geo was known to the coin-op industry, offered arcade operators the ability to put up to 6 different arcade titles into a single cabinet, a key economic consideration for operators with limited floorspace. With its games stored on self-contained cartridges, a game-cabinet could be exchanged for a different game-title by swapping the game's ROM-cartridge and cabinet artwork. Several popular franchise-series, including Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters, Metal Slug and Samurai Shodown, were released for the platform.

I got it as a gift from one of my friends, it was originally part of the arcade cabinet that I also got from him.
